Moonlight Gourami

About The Fish 


Moonlight gourami (Trichogaster microlepis) is one of the Osphronemidae family . It also called the moonbeam gourami its peaceful, attractive fish  and so a popular as aquarium fish.The moonlight gourami is native to the Mekong River in Cambodia and Vietnam and Chao Phraya basins

Description


the fish is  silvery colored with a slightly greenish hue similar to the soft glow of moonlight. The fish also have sloped head which is make it special from other gourami . The males can be identified by the orange to red coloration of the pelvic fins, as well as the long dorsal fins which ends in a point. In females, the pelvic fins are colorless to yellow, and the dorsal fins are shorter and rounder. During spawning, in males, and the fish can reach 13 cm (5 inches) .

Behavior


The moonlight gourami is social and peaceful fish , but u may see that  males attack other fishes of the same species. the moonlight gourami could be a shy fish that regularly hides behind vegetation.

Temperature and PH 


the fish prefer it between 26–30°C (79–86°F). with Ph 6.0–7.0 . and water hardness 2–25 dGH


Tank Size 


Minimum tank size requirement for the Gourami's is 20 gallons heavey planted tank with clear water .


Diet


moonlight gourami eats insects, crustaceans, and zooplankton also will accept flakes, frozen and live foods
