Silver Shark

About The Fish 


Balantiocheilos melanopterus, also known as the tricolor shark silver shark or shark minnow is one of Cyprinidae family  and is one of the two species in the genus Balantiocheilos.  is commonly called a shark because of its torpedo shaped body and large fins.

Description 


its silver body fish with black margins on their dorsal, caudal, anal, and pelvic fins.They have big eyes to see better to catch their prey. its growing to reach 12 inches max but need long time to reach this .

Behavior 


Bala shark is peaceful and good companions to many other types of tropical fish also they are jumpers fishes so u need to cover your tank to prevent the fish from hurting it self and calling this fhish a shark is just coz it looks like one with fins body shape no more . also they love to be kept in groups .

Temperature and PH 


water temperature should be from 22–28°C (72–82°F) and the PH should be 6.0–8.0 and water hardness 5.0–12.0 dGH.this fish has the ability to accept temp and Ph changes .

Tank 


the fish need 80 gallons or larger tanks to provide swimming areas . adults should be kept in larger tanks like 120 gallons or more .

Diet 


Silver Shark Prefer Live foods like brine shrimps - blood worms they also feed on flakes
